Paul, I met you years ago, picking up art for the Visionary Museum when it first opened, just found a book you gave in 1997 lost in a file cabinet, great to view your work now, impressive and much needed...

I am also unemployed and am still looking for work after months.
It has been scary.
I voted for Obama too in hope that he would be willing to change our system to the average citizen's advantage.
I think there are some bright lights in this bad economy:

#1-less cultural materialism an fighting for expensive must have items could bring us back to more spiritual meanings to our lives.

#2-The idea of the average person having to work at two jobs to make a living is now out the window as its hard enough to just get or keep even one job.

people will have more time off to think and realize that the meaning of life is not just to show up at a job everyday.

Although many people will be without money this will force the gatekeepers of our economy to revisit the idea that maybe it wasnt such a good idea after all for a full time job to pay less than what a person could support themselves on leading to possible social reforms such as a living wage, and maybe even single payer heath care since the average person and business cant seem to afford that either with our current for profit system run by drug manufacturers and insurance companies.

Who knows what changes this depression may bring?
Not all of them will be negative.
The system has failed, not the individual.
So now its time for the system to change for the individual's benefit.

Fascinating!

The dancing mushrooms in the top image are an obvious reference to AMINITA MUSCARIA (fly agaric) in this Fantasia scene. Over and over again, in many forms of artistic expression, throughout at least the last few hundred years, you will see this beautiful red mushroom with white dots displayed alongside elves, faeries, gnomes and other mystical/mythical beings. Disney's influence on art and culture can be seen in many places, and the pictorial representations of psychedelic mushrooms and other plant teachers can be seen over and over throughout his works. Not just in movies and books, but in his theme parks, adorning his most visited attractions. His animators and writers, engineers and imagineers were and are some very clever folks... hiding so called "secrets" in plain sight. Imagine if everyone "knew". Imagine just how much more popular Laffoley's works would be if others could "see", the way (perhaps) Disney and countless other creative individuals saw. Technology as we know it today is a direct result of a psychedelic boom, a mere 40 some years ago. Ask anyone who has an iPod. The story of Apple Computers is more fascinating when you realize most of the creators of this emerging technology had, at some point, "tuned in", in one way or another. Thanks to Laffoley for his inspiring work, and to miqel for your dedication and hard work to keep these archives alive and thriving.
